"The Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA) named Adrienne Eaton, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor of Labor Studies and Employment Relations, a 2017 LERA Fellow in recognition of her research on union and worker participation in management decision-making; neutrality and card check agreements in union organizing; and other key labor issues. She accepted the award at LERA’s 69th annual conference in Anaheim, California on June 3."

 "Eileen Applebaum, former Director of the Center for Women and Work, and John F. Burton Jr., former SMLR Dean and Professor Emeritus, received Lifetime Achievement Awards at the LERA conference in June. The LERA Lifetime Achievement Award is a capstone achievement for lifelong contributors to the field of Industrial Relations and Human Resources, from all perspectives.

Equality Indicators, a project of the CUNY Institute for State and Local Governance, named SMLR Center for Women and Work Executive Director Terri Boyer a Change Maker in recognition of her work to increase equality. Stockholm University will award Dorothy Sue Cobble, Distinguished Professor of Labor Studies and History, with an Honorary Doctorate of Social Sciences (DSc) on September 29 in a ceremony at Stockholm City Hall. The University is honoring Cobble for her research on gender, work, and inequality and for her research contributions to Stockholm University. In 2016, she held the Kerstin Hesselgren Swedish Research Council Chair at Stockholm University. 

 

The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) named Associate Teaching Professor Dave Ferio its Global 2017 Faculty Advisor of the Year and honored the Graduate Chapter of RU SHRM with its Outstanding Student Chapter Award for the seventh time in the last eight years. Ferio, who also serves as Director of the Master of Human Resource Management (MHRM), joined several MHRM students and RU SHRM members at the award ceremony in New Orleans in June. ... Read more.

 

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), the UN Migration Agency, invited Visiting Professor Binod Khadria to join the Migration Research Leaders Syndicate in support of the 2018 Global Compact on Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM). Khadria, of Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi, is Rutgers University’s first-ever ICCR Chair of Indian Studies."
